Nutrition program
Nutrition programs across Oregon are a vital component to helping seniors stay independent and healthy. Good nutrition can support healthy aging and help manage and prevent chronic diseases. Poor nutrition can impair recovery from illness and affect quality of life. The Older Americans Act provides funding for nutritious meals (congregate and home-delivered), nutrition screening, nutrition education and counseling. The program aims to reduce hunger and food insecurity, provide socialization and promote the health and well-being of older individuals. This page has nutrition education resources, nutrition program guidelines and information on the location of congregate and home-delivered meal programs and other nutrition assistance programs for older adults.
