What does VFC's influenza vaccine supply look like for the 2007-08 season?

We will be distributing the following influenza vaccines through VFC:

  • Fluzone® by Sanofi Pasteur. Our Sanofi presentations this season include .25cc prefilled syringes, .5ml single dose vials and 5ml multidose vials.
  • FluMist™ by MedImmune.

Oregon VFC Providers prebooked over 30,000 doses for this season. We expect to be able to fill orders for all providers except those that ordered significantly past our February 2, 2007 deadline.

We have received orders for 0.5 mL thimerosal-free doses, in single-dose vials or prefilled syringes that exceed our allocation from CDC. We will fill prebooked orders in the order in which they were received. When we run out of these thimerosal-free presentations, we will fill orders with multidose vials.

When will we receive our VFC influenza vaccine?

For both brands of influenza vaccine, we anticipate first shipments around mid-September and will continue shipping throughout November and December. Providers will receive their influenza vaccine according to when we received their order. If you ordered FluMist™ for your VFC patients, please remember that this year FluMist™ needs to be refrigerated - NOT FROZEN.

Can we trade or share doses of influenza vaccine between our private and VFC vaccine stock?

Do not share or trade between private and VFC flu vaccine stock. If you have questions, please call your Immunization Health Educator at 971.673.0300.
