Eight individuals receive 2010 Mental Health Awards for Excellence

Eight individuals from throughout Oregon were honored May 21 with Mental Health Awards for Excellence for 2010.

 

Richard Harris, assistant director for Addictions and Mental Health Division (AMH), hosted the awards on behalf of the Oregon Department of Human Services (DHS) and Oregon Health Authority.

 

The recipients were nominated by peers, supervisors and coworkers. The awards honor those who make significant contributions toward AMH's mission of enhancing the mental health of Oregonians and supporting recovery and resiliency in the most natural settings through prevention, treatment, support and rehabilitation.


Recipients were:

  • Youth consumer activist (new award) — Martin Rafferty, director, Youth M.O.V.E. Oregon
  • Adult consumer activist — Amy Anderson, chair, Cascadia Behavioral Healthcare, Inc., consumer advisory council
  • Adult consumer activist — Angel Moore, coordinator, David Romprey Oregon Warm Line
  • Family advocate youth — Lisa Moody, Oregon Family Support Network
  • Unsung contributor — Kevin Rau, deputy, Marion County Sheriff's Office
  • Exceptional mental health director — Chris Johnson, director, Yamhill County Health and Human Services
  • Exceptional mental health service provider / individual — Ajit Jetmalani, M.D., Oregon Health Sciences University Division of Child Psychiatry
  • Exceptional mental health service provider / individual — Ryan Melton, L.P.C., Mid-Valley Behavioral Care Network early assessment and support team
